A new, unexpected journey

Life gives us lots of journeys, different seasons. God takes us on quite a ride. And if we are willing to travel we get to experience much of him and his character.

We’d heard about this great church reaching people for God for a few years. I have to admit, our friends Rod and Amie Gray gave us an excuse to get away to Myrtle Beach for a weekend. We knew them a bit while we camped out in Clayton, NC for 6 months, and when we heard they went on staff at Barefoot Church in North Myrtle Beach, SC this last summer we decided it was the perfect excuse to finally check out the church and catch up with friends. Little did we know that a relationship would begin with them, that in recommending our friends Nick and Sara for the youth pastor position last November that God might be doing something in our lives through this church as well. We really thought we’d move our good friends in, say goodbye, and go back to Wilmington to figure out life or what city God had next on our list!  After spending some weeks joining with their worship band off and on, and many conversations about life and ministry, it seemed Barefoot made it harder and harder to stay away. Or God did.

We are excited about this new journey that we are embarking on as Chad joins the staff in a creative/tech production role. Chad and I could not be more thrilled to follow such a pastor as Clay NeSmith; he is so fired up about spreading the love and hope of Jesus throughout that region, it is contagious. What dear folk with a passion to “change lives that change the world.” Pray for us as we try to move an hour & 15 minutes down the road, get rid of our Wilmington apartment, as I try to find a job, as we transition and settle in. Can’t wait to join in the vision, jump in, and serve!

Barb and I are so honored to know you and Chad and to be counted as your friends. It has been an inspiration to have seen your steadfastness and faith, while you endured the trials in your path. You waited on the Lord, and like Jacob refused to let Him go until He blessed you. What a victorious testimony our Lord has given you along with His favor! Looking forward to keeping up with the next step in your journey. You are in our prayers.

  5. Thanks Andy, Eddie and Cynthia! We are excited. Praying God moves in and thru ALL of us in 2010!
