My heart goes out

As if it couldn’t get any worse, after all the news reports, and newly released footage of the murderer of Virginia Tech students…it’s always hard to comprehend the reality of what happened when you aren’t there, when you’re not in it. You empathize with those families and friends, students and teachers, the community of Blacksburg- but it’s almost like it is still just a headcount of deaths. Not wanting to downplay the tragedy but I think alot of us do this because we just aren’t there to experience it- we don’t really know those victims.Until you read this – you read recently posted profiles from CNN.com sent in from those that knew them…you get a glimpse of the intricate make-up of these people. They are real people: with different personalites, different majors, different walks of life, different loves, different dreams and aspirations; people just like you and me. And you get frustrated all over again that their lives were so brutally taken- downright angry and heartbroken… God designed all these people very specifically, but God also is still reigning and in control despite the hurt and tragedy we go through.I continue to pray for the people these victims left behind, for the friends and family of those injured. I pray that God will use this to make himself famous, to reveal his compassionate and loving nature; that people would experience peace and comfort like never before– and ultimately know that no matter what happens, Christ is still king.2 Corinthians 1:3-4″Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”
